SCOPE OF WORK:

This project involves engineered channel restoration & removal of a redundant Sanitary Trunk Sewer (STS) and Watermain located within Mimico Creek immediately upstream of the Royal York Road Bridge. Instability within Mimico Creek has resulted in channel bed and bank erosion, exposing the redundant infrastructure, which the City has in turn relocated. The general items included in this project include:

• Setup site access, erosion and sediment control devices, with equipment and materials;
• Undertake required clearing and grubbing including removal and off-site disposal of any debris and/or failed structures indicated on Contract Drawings;
• Installation of dewatering system including coffer dams, pump and sediment bag to provide dry working area consistent with City requirements;
• Removal of abandoned sewer and Watermain, plug decommissioned ends as per Contract Drawings;
• Construction of armourstone / gabion retrofit, including repacking, remeshing, and grouting;
• Supply and placement of 600 - 1200 mm boulders and concrete grouting for armourstone and boulders for channel restoration as per Contract Drawings
• Supply and installation of storm outfall headwall including pipe cut as per Contract Drawing;
• Grading and topsoil application, installation of erosion control measures including coir matting;
• Restoration of access routes and staging areas as per restoration plan including terraseed mixture and plantings;
• Removal of all sediment and erosion control devices, dewatering system, silt fences, and restoration of the site.

Completion Date
This Contract, including all site restorations, clean up, and rectification of all known deficiencies, must be completed between January 1, 2018 and March 15, 2018, subject to receiving final approval from the Toronto Region Conservation Authority and City of Toronto Urban Forestry group.

MANDATORY EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The Bidder must have the following experience in order to be considered for award:

1. The Bidder must provide a minimum of two (2) reference projects for the purpose of confirming the Bidder's experience and track record of success as per Section 2, Item 8.1.F. Each reference project shall include all of the information outlined in the following table. Bidders may attach a separate sheet if more space is required.

First Reference Project
Due to the specialized nature of the work, the Bidder must have the following experience within the past five (5) years in order to be considered for award:
1. Must have performed at least two (2) similar projects involving at least 70 linear metres of stream restoration for a watercourse, involving a water management and flow diversion strategy to allow for construction in a watercourse;

2. Each of the two projects must be in excess of $500,000 (Five-hundred thousand dollars) exclusive of applicable taxes; and

3. The projects must involve stream restoration work within a regulated area under the jurisdiction of any of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Conservation Authorities.

Second Reference Project
Due to the specialized nature of the work, the Bidder must have the following experience within the past five (5) years in order to be considered for award:
1. Must have performed at least two (2) similar projects involving at least 70 linear metres of stream restoration for a watercourse, involving a water management and flow diversion strategy to allow for construction in a watercourse;

2. Each of the two projects must be in excess of $500,000 (Five-hundred thousand dollars) exclusive of applicable taxes; and

3. The projects must involve stream restoration work within a regulated area under the jurisdiction of any of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Conservation Authorities.
