Off duty firefighter reports and fights a 2nd alarm fire

At 10:20 a.m. this morning, Toronto Fire Services responded to a 2nd alarm house fire on Rangoon Road in the west command.

An off duty firefighter kicked in the front door and pulled out a middle aged woman. A passerby helped carry the woman to the front lawn. The woman had no vital signs. CPR was immediately initiated and Toronto EMS transported her to hospital. The woman’s condition is unknown at this time.

Firefighters worked quickly and efficiently to bring the fire under control within minutes.

Platoon Chief Heeps said, “This off duty firefighter deserves much praise for his heroic action at this tragic fire.”

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the fire.
