Public Health issues community alert

Toronto Public Health has issued a community alert to residents concerning the
deaths of four domestic animals in the area of a laneway bordered by Kenwood,
Wychwood and Louise Avenues, north of St. Clair Ave.

Three cats and one dog died in this area during a 72 hour period since Tuesday
of unexplained causes. Late Friday, Public Health inspectors began an
investigation of the area for possible sources of contamination. Residents
received a community alert advising them not to let children play in the
laneway and to keep pets out of the area. Notices have also been posted at the
entrances to the laneway.

The bodies of the four dead animals are being sent for laboratory testing to
determine the cause of death. Police are monitoring the situation, pending the
outcome of lab tests.
