The fifth annual Toronto Fallen Firefighter memorial service will honour 154
firefighters who have died in the line of duty since 1848.
Date: Sunday, October 2
Time: 10 a.m.
Place: Toronto Fire Academy Auditorium, 895 Eastern Ave.
Three additions to our honour roll due to work-related cancers are:
Captain John L. MacFarlane, Scarborough Fire Department, August 29, 1996
Firefighter Walter Drake, York Fire Department, October 7, 2001
Captain Robert Campbell, North York Fire Department, November 23, 2004
The Toronto Fallen Firefighter memorial is dedicated to all of the brave
firefighters in Toronto's history who have lost their lives in the line of
duty, or due to a work-related disease. It recognizes that firefighters risk
their lives every day to protect lives, property, and the environment in the
city of Toronto.
During the past four years, on the first Sunday of October, firefighters,
families, and friends gathered for an annual ceremony of remembrance to honour
those that have paid the supreme sacrifice in the performance of their duties.
Please join us and pay tribute to our fallen firefighters who have exemplified
courage, compassion, and determination. It will be with the deepest respect
that we remember the supreme sacrifice of Toronto's fallen firefighters.
The order of the service will include words of encouragement and laying of
wreaths by senior representatives from the Province of Ontario, City of
Toronto, Toronto Fire Services, and the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters’
Captain Mike Strapko
