Mayor Miller meets with Ukrainian president Viktor Yushchenko

Mayor David Miller met with Ukrainian president Viktor Yushchenko yesterday
before winding up his four-day trade mission to Ukraine.

"Toronto and Kyiv already have strong business and cultural ties. I was
delighted to meet with President Yushchenko, who shared his strong interest in
Toronto and Canada. I’ve extended invitations to both President Yushchenko and
Mayor Omelchenko of Kyiv to visit our city," said Mayor Miller.

Mayor Miller and Mayor Omelchenko signed a letter of intent to forge further
cultural and economic exchanges and to share best practices. The Canada Ukraine
Chamber of Commerce (CUCC) and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce (UCCI) also
signed an agreement to work collaboratively on building business and trade
links.

In an address to more than 100 business leaders, Mayor Miller took the
opportunity to promote Toronto’s competitive business advantages and its
strategic importance as a trade gateway to North America.

The Toronto delegation to Kyiv included Councillor Gloria Lindsay Luby (Ward 4
Etobicoke Centre) and 45 Toronto-area business leaders.

Following his meeting with President Yushchenko, Mayor Miller traveled to
Berlin to attend the 8th annual Metropolis Congress, hosted by the World
Association of Major Metropolises.
