Media Advisory - City of Toronto officially renames Tam O'Shanter Park to Ron Watson Park
Councillor Norman Kelly (Ward 40 Scarborough-Agincourt), and representatives of
Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation will officially rename Tam O'Shanter
Park in honour of former City of Scarborough Councillor, Ron Watson.

Mr. Watson served Toronto residents on Scarborough Council for more than 27
years. He was first elected as an alderman in 1964, and was re-elected for nine
terms from 1964-1978 and from 1985-1996 as a Scarborough City Councillor.
During his years on Council, he supported heritage and cultural initiatives,
serving as chairman of the Scarborough Library Board and the Scarborough
bicentennial celebrations in 1996.

Mr. Watson and his wife Verna, residents of Agincourt for nearly 30 years, will
be in attendance.

Time: 11 a.m.
Location: Ron Watson Park, 140 Bonis Ave.
(east of Birchmount Road, north
of Sheppard Avenue East)
Parking is available off
Birchmount Road, opposite Stephen Leacock C.I.

The renaming event includes greetings, an official ribbon cutting, community
barbecue and recreational activities.
