Toronto Fire Services announces partnership with Canadian Red Cross for tsunami relief efforts|

Toronto Fire Services (TFS) will be hosting a media conference to announce a
new initiative in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross.
Where: Adelaide Street Fire Hall (260 Adelaide St. West)
When: Wednesday, January 5, 2005 - 9 a.m.
Why : Announce a partnership between Toronto Fire Services and the Red Cross
Who: Toronto Fire Chief W. Stewart, Red Cross Director of Programs, Vera Dodic
TFS and the Canadian Red Cross will be setting up four Red Cross Donation
Centres, one in each of the four commands of Toronto Fire Services:
- 260 Adelaide St. West - Station 332 (South)
- 12 Canterbury Pl. - Station 114 (North)
- 740 Markham Rd. - Station 231 (East)
- 280 Burnhamthorpe Rd. - Station 445 (West)
TFS has partnered with the Red Cross in an effort to make it easier for people
to donate directly to the Tsunami Relief Effort and, by January 11, to reap the
benefits of the Federal Government 2004 tax initiative. The Federal Government
dollar-for-dollar program will match the public donations.
Times for making donations:
Thursday, January 6, 2005 - 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday, January 7, 2005 - 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, January 8, 2005 - noon to 4 p.m.
Sunday, January 9, 2005 - noon to 4 p.m.
Monday, January 10th, 2005 - 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
TFS is also appealing for the community to drop off usable tents at any of its
fire stations for delivery by Toronto Fire Services personnel to affected areas
in the coming months.
