Toronto Island Ferry Service to Operate on Saturday July 9

The City of Toronto and Toronto Civic Employees’ Union (TCEU) Local 416 (CUPE)
have mutually agreed that in the event of a labour disruption that may commence
at noon on Saturday July 9, Toronto Island Ferry staff will continue to report
for and work their regular shifts during all scheduled shifts from noon until
midnight. The Toronto Island ferry service will operate as usual on Saturday,
July 9.

The City of Toronto and Local 416 have been negotiating to reach a new
collective agreement. Local 416 represents City outside staff. Local 416 was in
a legal strike position as of 12:01 a.m. Friday morning, but extended that
deadline to noon, Saturday, July 9.

All Toronto Island attractions and services, including Centreville, the
Franklin Children’s Garden, food services and previously permitted events will
continue.

The City of Toronto appreciates the co-operation and collaboration of Local 416
in ensuring continuity of service for Toronto Island residents and visitors
throughout Saturday.
