Media Advisory: “Great Streets Need Great Buildings” - Urbanizing the Avenues
Mayor David Miller will address property developers, architects, urban
designers and planners at a Mid-Rise Symposium to encourage better
intensification along Toronto’s major streets.

Date: Tuesday, November 29
Time: 8 a.m.
Place: Pantages Suites Hotel, 3rd Floor, 200 Victoria St.

The Mayor is opening a day-long symposium that begins with a Canadian Urban
Institute breakfast and morning session at Pantages Suites Hotel, to be
followed by public workshops that afternoon at Oakham House, Ryerson
University, 55 Gould St.

To conclude the day, the Toronto Society of Architects will host a public
lecture and panel discussion at 7 p.m. in the Lakeview Room, University of
Toronto Residence, 89 Chestnut St. The distinguished mid-rise architect and
urban designer Howard Elkus, from Boston, will speak. David Michael Lamb of CBC
Radio One will moderate.
