City of Toronto officially opens Irma Burman Greenbelt

Councillor Gay Cowbourne (Ward 44 Scarborough East), and representatives of
Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation will officially open Toronto's newest
greenspace in the Meadowvale Road and Sheppard Avenue East area of Scarborough.

The new parkland is named in honour of the late Irma Burman, a tireless worker
and advocate for preserving the Rouge Valley, Meadowvale Pond and Centennial
marshlands. She was also instrumental in the preservation of the greenbelt
situated west of Tallpines Court.

The opening event includes greetings, an official sign unveiling and ribbon
cutting.

Date: Saturday, October 1
Time: 11 a.m.
Location: Irma Burman Greenbelt, 20 Tallpines Crt., (east of Meadowvale Road,
south of Sheppard Avenue East)

A community barbecue and a demonstration by Toronto and Region Conservation
Authority will follow at Tallpines Community Centre, located at 64 Rylander
Blvd.
