Mayor Miller kicks off month-long celebration of architecture and design
Mayor David Miller today kicked off Toronto’s inaugural Festival of
Architecture and Design. As part of its Clean and Beautiful City initiative,
the City has joined with more than a dozen design associations and institutions
to co-ordinate activities across Toronto throughout May.

"The Festival of Architecture and Design gives residents and visitors, alike, a
chance to celebrate Toronto," said Mayor Miller. "We have a city filled with
beauty in many forms, and it’s high time for us to shine a spotlight on it all."

The festival will feature exhibitions, films, symposiums, lectures, walking
tours, readings, book launches, dinners and award celebrations, including the
City’s Architecture and Urban Design Awards Gala at the Art Gallery of Ontario
on May 16. The festival will culminate with Doors Open Toronto on the last
weekend in May. The public will also have a chance to vote in the Toronto
Society of Architects’ poster competition at the Design Exchange.
