Celebrate the 138th birthday of the nation on this Canada Day — July 1st, 2005
— from 8 to 10:30pm at Mel Lastman Square. This year Mel Lastman Square
features an amazing evening of top Canadian performers and dazzling fireworks
for the whole family to enjoy!
The Canada Day celebrations feature Canadian country music star Diane Chase and
Robert Michaels, Canada’s premiere flamenco guitarist. The evening closes with
a spectacular fireworks finale!
Multiple award-winning vocalist Diane Chase has struck a cord in the heart of
country music lovers nationwide. She has shared the stage with Alabama, The
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Rascal Flatts, Michelle Wright and many more. Her
fabulous voice, catchy lyrical hooks and natural stage charisma give her what
it takes to compete with the best country music performers touring today. Diane
Chase is a must see live!
A veteran of the romantic guitar circuit, Robert Michaels has made a name for
himself as a premiere Canadian flamenco guitarist. Often compared to Jesse Cook
and Oscar Lopez, his acoustic style blends Latin jazz, tango and flamenco to
create a Juno Award-winning sound and enchant his growing legion of fans.
The perfect finale to this evening celebration takes place overhead as you look
up and marvel at the dazzling fireworks – a spectacle choreographed to music.
Admission is free and getting there couldn’t be easier! Mel Lastman Square is
located at 5100 Yonge St., two blocks north of Sheppard Ave. By TTC, take the
Yonge St. subway and exit at North York Centre.
Generously sponsored by Canada Life.
Plus, stop by Nathan Phillips Square for free reusable water bottles to the
