Photo opportunity - Fire Prevention Week 2005 launch "Use Candles with Care"

Tomorrow, Fire Chief William A. Stewart will launch Fire Prevention Week 2005
at the Toronto Fire Academy.

Every October during Fire Prevention Week, Toronto Fire Services joins the
Office of the Fire Marshal, the National Fire Protection Association and fire
departments across North America to promote public awareness of fire prevention
and fire safety. "Use Candles with Care" is the theme of this year’s Fire
Prevention Week.

Date: TOMORROW, Friday, October 7
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: Toronto Fire Academy, 895 Eastern Ave.

Fire Prevention Week 2005 will run from Sunday, October 9 to Saturday, October
15. The main objective is to raise awareness of the causes of home fires and
the steps people can take to avoid them. Candle safety will be highlighted as
one of the safety priorities.

There will be a dramatic burn demonstration of a candle fire, immediately
followed by a demonstration showing the effectiveness of a sprinkler system on
a similar fire.
