Municipal employees honoured for contributing to community safety

The City of Toronto will honour a group of municipal employees for their
contributions to community safety during 2004. The CityWatch Annual Awards
Night will also feature the presentation of the 2004 CityWatch Annual Award to
the monthly CityWatch award winner who is judged most deserving of the annual
award.

The monthly award winners and many guests will be on hand for the occasion. In
2004, 13 employees received recognition from CityWatch and are eligible to be
considered for the special annual award. The winner will be announced at
Thursday's event.

Date: Thursday, February 17
Time: 7 p.m.
Place: Rotunda, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W.

CityWatch, a program of the City's Community Safety Plan, is overseen by the
Mayor's Community Safety Panel and is generously supported by Bell Mobility.

CityWatch encourages municipal employees to take the initiative to notify
emergency personnel when, during the normal course of their work, they see or
suspect an emergency or criminal activity. Actions that contribute to community
safety (while not endangering anyone involved) qualify for CityWatch
recognition.

More information about the program is available at
