Media Advisory: Ceremony honours victims of gas explosion one year later
  
The City of Toronto will hold a memorial ceremony for those who lost their
lives in the Bloor Street gas explosion and fire one year ago on April 24, 2003.

Date: Saturday, April 24, 2004
Time: 11 a.m.
Location: 3885 - 3887 Bloor St. W.
(southwest corner of Bloor Street West and Poplar Avenue)

There will be a partial road closure in effect in the area during the ceremony.

Remarks: Mayor David Miller, Ward 5 Councillor Peter Milczyn, and Dr. Ron
Nickel, Co-ordinating Chaplain, Toronto Fire Services

Members of the Honour Guards representing the Toronto Police Service, Toronto
Fire Service and Toronto EMS will also be in attendance.

On April 24, last year, at approximately 2 p.m., a gas explosion and fire at
3885 - 3887 Bloor St. W., destroyed a two-storey commercial/residential
building, causing the deaths of seven people, injuries to numerous others and
extensive property damage.
