WinterCity getaway made easy

Toronto Special Events - The second annual WinterCity presented by
American Express Foundation is a 14-day city-wide celebration of Toronto's
culture, creativity, cuisine and incomparable diversity of spirit.

Running from January 28 - February 10, 2005, this festival dares audiences to
forget the weather and join the party in the world's coolest city. With stellar
free indoor and outdoor programming, the hugely popular prix fixe restaurant
promotion plus tons of winter events and discounts at Toronto's attractions,
WinterCity provides the perfect opportunity for tourists and locals to sample
the city's vibrant arts scene.

The WinterCity Festival is brimming with unique free programming. The
festival's hub lies in the heart of the city at Nathan Phillips Square where
the Wild on Winter (WOW!) series features performances from celebrated Canadian
talent and world-renowned, international theatrical troupes. This series of
open-air performances injects some serious WOW! into Toronto's winter
landscape.

In 2005, these successful WinterCity events will be joined by the new
photography exhibition, My City, My Life presented by American Express. 24
exceptional Torontonians will document 24 hours in their lives around the city
with a 24-exposure camera. The results will be displayed in Toronto City Hall's
Rotunda during the WinterCity Festival.

The Toronto Eaton Centre along with 36 Toronto attractions will play host to
the WinterCity Warm Up Series. This series features comedy, dance, opera,
theatre, children's performances and more.

WinterCity also offers incredible discounts to 36 of Toronto's landmarks and
attractions with the WinterCity Passport. The Passport provides the holder with
discounts such as 20 percent off and 2-for-1 admission to destinations
including Casa Loma, the Ontario Science Centre, the National Film Board and
the Toronto Zoo, plus so many more. Special programming will also be offered at
some of the local attractions during WinterCity.

Toronto's restaurant promotion, Winterlicious presented by American Express,
returns with an expanded restaurant selection on January 28 through February
10.

The program includes the participation of 120 of Toronto's finest restaurants
each offering a special prix fixe menu where patrons can sample the
establishment's famous fare. The three-course prix fixe menus are available at
lunch ($10 or $20) and dinner ($20 or $30). Beverages, taxes and gratuity are
not included (some restrictions may apply).

Participating restaurants include North 44, Bymark, Centro, Auberge du Pommier,
Canoe, Square, Truffles, Annona, Rosewater Supper Club, Courtyard Café (Windsor
Arms), and Azure. Reservations for Winterlicious' prix fixe menus will be
accepted at participating restaurants starting on January 13. American Express
Cardmembers can go to the Front Of The Line® to book early reservations on
January 11 and 12.

Winterlicious also includes unique culinary events at some of the participating
restaurants. These experiences allow guests to savour delectable meals and
participate in culinary happenings such as champagne brunches, high teas and
themed tasting menus.

The WinterCity hotel package makes it easy to plan a winter getaway in Toronto.
Tourists to the city can book their stay with the official WinterCity hotel
partner, the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre. The hotel offers a package
deal for $279 that includes overnight accommodations, a prix-fixe dinner for
two at JW's Steakhouse, breakfast for two at the Parkside Restaurant and
parking. The public can call 1-800-905-0667 for reservations.
