MEDIA ADVISORY Paramedics to thank Mayor David Miller and Toronto EMS Chief Bruce Farr for support of mission to Sri Lanka

Emergency Medical Services - A group Toronto EMS paramedics who went to Sri
Lanka last November as part of the Global Medic team will get together today at
City Hall to thank the City of Toronto and Toronto EMS for supporting the
successful mission.

Date: Monday, January 19, 2004
Time: 2:30 p.m.
Place: Member's Lounge, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West

Global Medic, an arm of the David McAntony Gibson Foundation (DMGF), worked
with The Student Volunteer Project, a group of local students doing projects
designed to help rehabilitate Sri Lanka's devastated educational
infrastructure, to collect donated medical equipment, clothing, computers and
school textbooks. The capacity building mission involved distributing donated
goods and books, training and equipping medical personnel, and building a
school in northern Sri Lanka in November 2003.
