Media Advisory: Federation of Canadian Municipalities releases 2004 quality of life in urban Canada report

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) is releasing its 2004 report on
quality of life in urban Canada. Edmonton Councillor Michael Phair, Chair of
the committee that authored the report, will brief news media via conference
call on April 14 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. (eastern time).

The report draws on data from FCM's Quality of Life Reporting System (QOLRS)
and focuses on six quality of life factors: local economy; natural environment;
personal goals and aspirations; fairness and equity; basic needs; and social
inclusion. The report also looks at underlying demographic trends affecting 20
survey municipalities.

Reporters wishing to take part should call 416-695-7840, enter pass code
533860#, and follow the prompts. Dial (*)0 for assistance.

The Quality of Life Highlights Report and background material will be posted on
the FCM Web site, www.fcm.ca, on April 14 at 11:30 a.m.
