Media Advisory: Report shows single parent families facing cycle of poverty
  
On September 9, the City of Toronto will release the findings of a major survey
of single parents on social assistance at its Community Services Committee
meeting.

Date: Thursday, September 9
Time: 9:30 a.m.
Location: Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St., Committee Room 1

The survey, conducted by the polling firm Pollara on behalf of the City of
Toronto, looks at the experiences of 800 single parents receiving social
assistance as they struggle to make a better life for themselves and their
children.

The results of the survey are discussed in the report, "Social Assistance and
Social Exclusion: Findings from Toronto Social Services' 2003 survey of single
parents on Ontario Works." Copies of the report's summary will be available at
the meeting.
