2005 Safe Seniors Calendar to be launched in Toronto and York Region
B.A.S.S.I.C. (Bringing an Awareness to Senior Safety Issues in the Community)
is a partnership between police, fire, government agencies and community groups
dedicated to making seniors safer in our communities. B.A.S.S.I.C. is proudly
launching its 2005 Safe Senior's Calendar. With the generous support of The
Co-operators insurance, 150,000 calendars will be distributed to seniors in the
GTA, and across Canada, free of charge!

The calendar will feature a different safety message each month, including
pedestrian and driver safety, fraud prevention, a variety of health issues, and
a comprehensive resource list with telephone numbers and web addresses.

In addition to the calendar, B.A.S.S.I.C. will be officially launching its new
website,, which will feature important safety information and
provide access to a variety of presentations from participating members.

Two launch events will occur on November 10, 2004:

Toronto Toronto Fire Services Headquarters
4330 Dufferin Street (North of Finch Avenue)
10 a.m.

York Region City of Vaughan Council Chambers
2141 Major MacKenzie Drive (East of Hwy 400 at
Keele St.)
2 p.m.

Speaking at the Toronto event will be Mario Sergio, Parliamentary Assistant to
the Minister Responsible for Seniors, the Honourable John Gerretson, Chief
Julian Fantino, Toronto Police Services, Division Chief Jack Collins, Toronto
Fire Services, Bruce Farr, General Manager from Emergency Medical Services, and
Jayne Russell, Public Relations Specialist, from The Co-operators.
