Updated: Weekend Road Closures -- Gardiner Expressway
***Updated - 10 a.m. May 14, 2004 ***

The City of Toronto Works and Emergency Services Department will be performing
emergency road resurfacing activities on the Gardiner Expressway on the weekend
of May 15-16, 2004. In order to undertake this work safely, a partial closure
of the Gardiner Expressway will be required.

The eastbound Gardiner Expressway will be closed from the Humber Bridge to
Carlaw Avenue from 2 a.m. on Saturday May 15 to 2 a.m. on Sunday May 16. The
westbound expressway will be closed from Carlaw Avenue to the Humber River from
2 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday May 16.

"Performing this work is important to maintain safe travel conditions on the
Gardiner Expressway," said David Kaufman, General Manager, Transportation
Services, Works and Emergency Services Department.

Motorists can use Lake Shore Boulevard or The Queensway as an alternate route.
Ongoing lane closures on The Queensway will be temporarily removed to
accommodate additional traffic expected on this route during the expressway

The public is encouraged to use public transit (TTC and GO) as a convenient,
alternative choice.

For further information about these closures, check with Transportation
Services Road Info line at 416-599-9090 or visit the City's Web site at
