Toronto EMS Paramedics join Spice Isle Relief Effort to help victims of Hurricane Ivan in Grenada

Toronto Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is teaming up with members of
Toronto's West Indian Community and the David McAntony Gibson Foundation to
help victims of Hurricane Ivan.

A group of Torontonians have formed the Spice Isle Relief Effort (SIRE) in an
attempt to raise much needed aid for Grenada. The tiny Caribbean nation was
battered by Hurricane Ivan last week. Over 30 deaths are blamed on Hurricane
Ivan, nine out of 10 houses are damaged, and up to 70,000 people are homeless.
Relief effort plans were announced today at Toronto EMS Headquarters.

SIRE is asking the public for their help in donating the following items:

a) bottled drinking water
b) water purification tablets
c) first aid supplies
d) baby supplies
e) toiletries, i.e. toothpaste, soap
f) non-perishable food items, i.e. bags of rice, pasta, energy bars
g) flashlights, matches, candles and lanterns
h) all sizes of household batteries i.e. AA, 9 Volt, C, D
