Media Advisory: Friendship between Scarborough and Florina, Greece celebrated
  
Florina Day, which commemorates the spirit of fraternization between the former
City of Scarborough and the City of Florina in the Province of Macedonia in
Northern Greece, will be celebrated on Sunday, May 30 at the Scarborough Civic
Centre. This year marks the 21st anniversary of this event.

The Florina Festival celebrates the cultural and economic bonds between the two
cities with a formal ceremony and a flag raising. Similarly, Scarborough Day in
Florina is celebrated with reciprocal honours and cultural events.

Florina Day takes place:

Date: Sunday, May 30
Time: 1:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. (Flag raising at 1:30 p.m.)
Location: Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr. (Ellesmere
and McCowan)

Joining in the celebration are representatives from the Consulate General of
Greece, the Consulate General of the Republic of Cyprus, the Greek Community of
Metropolitan Toronto and the Pan-Macedonian Association of Ontario.

There will be music and dance performances by the Greek Community of
Metropolitan Toronto, Levendia X Hellenic Folklore Association and the Orpheus
Choir.
