New community Diversity Garden opens in Alexandra Park
  
On Monday, May 3, 2004 at 11:30 a.m., Councillor Olivia Chow (Ward 20
Trinity-Spadina), representatives from Toronto Parks and Recreation, Scadding
Court Community Centre and the Composting Council of Canada officially opened
the Alexandra Park Diversity Garden. Alexandra Park and the Scadding Court
Community Centre are located on the southeast corner of Bathurst Street and
Dundas Street West.

"Toronto Parks and Recreation is truly honoured to be the host for this
wonderful community initiative," stated Brenda Librecz, Acting General Manager
of Toronto Parks and Recreation. "This successful partnership will be of great
assistance to meeting the needs of local residents and the Fort York Food Bank."

The opening ceremony recognized the 10th Anniversary of Compost Awareness Week
in Canada. The community garden project is a successful partnership between the
City of Toronto, Scadding Court Community Centre, Composting Council of Canada,
Fort York Food Bank, Toronto Heart Health Partnership and Toronto Parks and
Recreation's Plant a Row, Grow a Row community gardening initiative.
