Media Advisory: Bicycle tourism in Toronto - a great idea
The City of Toronto's Cycling Ambassadors will demonstrate that bicycle tourism
in Toronto is a great experience. They will pack up bike trailers, bike racks
and panniers with tents, sleeping bags and other camping supplies to depart for
an overnight bicycle camping adventure in Clairville Conservation Area. The
Ambassadors will spread the message that bicycle tourism in Toronto is an
option worth considering in the summer.

Date: Tuesday, August 3
Time: 11 a.m. to noon
Location: Departing from the main doors at Toronto City Hall, 100
Queen St. W.

One of the 49 recommendations of the Toronto Bike Plan - which aims to shift
gears toward a more bicycle-friendly city - is to encourage bicycle tourism in
Toronto. Promoting bicycle tourism is a long-term objective of this plan and
the City is working to incorporate cycling information in its tourism
promotion. Developing bicycle tourism can have significant benefits for both
the economy and the environment. A complete version of the Toronto Bike Plan
can be found at

The Cycling Ambassadors would like to thank all of their sponsors: Bell Sports,
CAMEL BAK, Giro helmets, McBride Cycle, and Norco Bikes.
