Media Advisory: City of Toronto officially opens new skateboard pad at the Weston Lions Park
  
Councillor Frances Nunziata (Ward 11 York South-Weston) and Anne Valliere,
Acting Director Parks and Recreation, West District, will officially open
Toronto's newest skateboard pad at the Weston Lions Park.

About 30 skateboarders and their families will be on hand with their boards for
the ceremony. Some will have the flush of victory and others will be weary with
defeat from the pad's first skateboard competition, sponsored by West 49 and
D.J.Depot.

Canada Day festivities, including a BBQ and fireworks, will follow the awards
ceremony.


Date: Thursday, July 1 (Canada Day)

Skateboard Demos: 2 p.m. - 2:50 p.m.
Finalists Runs: 3:40 p.m. - 4:10 p.m.
Official Opening: 4:45 p.m. - 5:05 p.m.
Awards Ceremony: 5:05 p.m. - 5:10 p.m.

Place: Weston Lions Park
Lawrence Avenue West and Hickory Tree Road
