City of Toronto and Toronto Professional Fire Fighters' Association, Local 3888, Reach Tentative Agreement

The City of Toronto and the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters' Association
(TPFFA), Local 3888, have reached a tentative agreement on a new collective
agreement for a five-year period from January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2006,
Toronto Fire Services Chief William Stewart announced today.

"The tentative agreement meets all of the City of Toronto's objectives. I'm
especially pleased with the five-year term, as it enhances our relationship
with Local 3888," said Chief Stewart.

"Local 3888 shares the City's goal to have the best fire service in North
America. This agreement demonstrates how hard both parties have worked to
establish an improved working relationship," said Scott Marks, president of the
Toronto Professional Fire Fighters' Association, Local 3888.

Members of the TPFFA will meet on Thursday, January 22 to vote on the new
agreement. A staff report on the agreement will be tabled at the January 27,
28, 29, 2004 meeting of Toronto City Council.
