Don Valley Parkway closure on weekend |
| || ||
The completion of bridge work at York Mills Road and other maintenance
activities will require the closure of the Don Valley Parkway this weekend.
The Don Valley Parkway will be closed in both directions from Highway 401 to
the Gardiner Expressway from Friday, November 12 at 11 p.m. to Monday, November
15 at 5 a.m.
In addition to removing most of the construction barriers, installing lane
markings and paving at the York Mills bridge site, other maintenance activities
will be undertaken during this closure, including:
· Expressway lighting work
· Guide rail repairs
· Sweeping operations
· RESCU system maintenance work
· TTC work at the Bloor Viaduct
· Leaside bridge maintenance work
· Riverdale pedestrian bridge maintenance work
· Maintenance work at Wynford Drive
This closure was originally scheduled to take place two weeks ago, however, a
construction workers' strike in the spring resulted in the work on the bridge
being completed two weeks later than planned.
The southbound off-ramp from the DVP to York Mills Road will remain closed for
two weeks while work on the ramp is completed.
"We apologize for any inconvenience as a result of this closure," said Les
Kelman, Acting General Manager, Transportation Services. "We would like to
thank all motorists for their patience with the recent closures."
In addition, the westbound Gardiner Expressway from Carlaw Avenue to Dunn
Avenue will be closed on Saturday, November 13 from 2 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon)
for routine maintenance.
All eastbound lanes on the Gardiner Expressway will remain open at all times
during the closure.
Motorists can use Victoria Park Avenue and Don Mills Road as alternative routes
for the Don Valley Parkway and Lake Shore Boulevard as an alternative for the
Gardiner Expressway during the closures. Whenever possible, the public is
encouraged to consider using public transit as a convenient alternative.
