Work continues on many city road projects despite labour dispute

Some road construction and road resurfacing projects in Toronto will continue
despite a labour dispute between the Toronto Area Road Builders and Universal
Workers Union, Local 183 and two sister unions.

"The City of Toronto will continue to move forward with some road work as
planned," said Gord MacMillan, Director, District Engineering Services, City of
Toronto. MacMillan added that many of the projects underway will not be
affected by this labour dispute.

City staff are ensuring that proper road safety standards will be maintained at
work sites. Wherever feasible, temporary accommodation for traffic including
pedestrians and cyclists will be made available.
