Mayor David Miller proclaims October Toronto Trails Festival Month

Mayor David Miller today proclaimed October as Toronto Trails Festival Month
and invited all Torontonians to join the celebration and explore the
world-class network of trails and parks that Toronto has to offer. Mayor Miller
was joined by many other members of City Council for the mid-day proclamation
on Nathan Phillips Square.

"All of the Toronto Trails Festival walks are great opportunities for families
to enjoy healthy, fun, outdoor activity together," said Mayor Miller. "This is
a chance for Torontonians to learn about and enjoy the great trails in their
neighbourhood and across the city."

The kickoff for the Toronto Trails Festival Month is Sunday, October 3 at 1
p.m. in High Park. There will be special guests, prizes and a guided walk.

Guided walks known as the "Fall Classics" will be held at parks and trails
across the City October 10, 17, 24 and 31.

The highlight of the festival will be Sunday, October 17, when 24 hikes will be
held in a single day. Each of these walks will be hosted by a Toronto City
Councillor and will feature great prizes for the participants.

This is the second year for the Toronto Trails Festival, which is organized by
The Platform Group in conjunction with Toronto Parks and Recreation.
