Premier McGuinty will deliver keynote address
On Friday, September 17 and Saturday, September 18, Mayor David Miller will
host a meeting of the mayors from 10 hub cities across Canada. Mayors (or their
designates) from Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Ottawa,
Montreal, Quebec City and Halifax will come to Toronto for the meeting, which
is a follow-up to the first gathering of hub city mayors held in January 2004.
The mayors are meeting to discuss plans for sharing federal fuel tax revenue in
support of the renewal and expansion of Canada's public transit systems and
transportation networks. The summit will open with a reception and keynote
address by Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty.
"All Canadians have a stake in the success of the country's major urban
centres," said Mayor Miller. "For that reason, it's crucial that these cities
work together to make sure we all have the tools and resources we need to
thrive. I look forward to hosting my colleagues from across the country."

Front St. West. A media/filing centre will be established in the Wentworth
