Toronto Special Events - Mayor David Miller leads an exciting group of
photographers in the creation of the exciting new visual arts exhibit, My City,
My Life presented by American Express. This new photograph-based project is
based on a simple concept: 24 hours, 24 shots, 24 photographers. The exhibit
will be displayed in Toronto City Hall's main floor Rotunda from January 28 to
February 10 as part of WinterCity presented by American Express Foundation.
My City, My Life provides a glimpse into the lives of 24 celebrated Toronto
personalities in arts and entertainment, sports, politics, and business as well
as some of Toronto's unsung heroes including fire fighters, paramedics and
teachers. This photography exhibit takes viewers behind-the-scenes to reveal a
typical day in the life of these Torontonians. Some of the faces are instantly
recognizable from the media. Some have dedicated their lives to ensuring the
safety and prosperity of this city. Regardless of whether these 24 people are
awake after midnight or before dawn, working the graveyard shift or 9 to 5,
sweating through a spinning class or shoveling snow, they're all doing their
best to squeeze the most out of life 24 hours at a time. And My City, My Life
will document it.
Confirmed photographers include Mayor David Miller, Rick Mercer (Comedian),
Karen Kain (National Ballet of Canada), Steven Page (Barenaked Ladies) and
Michael Ondaatje (Writer). Watch for more photographers to be announced soon.
The works of those 24 photographers will provide a varied look at Toronto - the
diverse and the beautiful. To honour the visuals provided by the photographers,
their works will be displayed in the main floor of Toronto City Hall. The
Rotunda will be transformed with individual pavillions and projections that
will bring the exhibit to life.
The second annual WinterCity presented by American Express Foundation is a
14-day city-wide celebration of Toronto's culture, creativity, cuisine and
incomparable diversity of spirit. Running from January 28 - February 10, 2005,
this festival dares audiences to forget the weather and join the party in the
world's coolest city. With stellar free indoor and outdoor programming, the
hugely popular prix fixe restaurant promotion, plus tons of winter events and
