Media Advisory: Oakdale Community Centre literacy day promotes love of reading and writing
  
Toronto Parks and Recreation will host a literacy day at Oakdale Community
Centre. The event focuses on helping inner-city youth between the ages of 6 and
24 strengthen their reading and writing skills in fun and creative ways.

Date: Saturday, May 1
Place: Oakdale Community Centre, 350 Grandravine Dr.

Noon to 12:45 p.m.
Romance author Lenore Providence will share her experiences of becoming a
published author.

Noon to 12:45 p.m.
Film production company, Skylarc, will walk participants through the
development of a storyboard, showing how a good idea can be transformed into a
video or film.

12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Children's author Itah Sadu will host a lively book reading. Ms. Sadu will also
give away some copies of her books from the Christopher book series.

2 to 2:45 p.m.
The ACT OUT project will perform the play Reality Rules and will teach
participants how to write their own script.

3 to 4 p.m.
Canadian Rapper Rikoshay will talk about the importance of reading and writing
in becoming a music artist. Rikoshay will also perform some of his work.
