Media Advisory: Classic bicycle race returns to High Park

Toronto's classic bicycle race is reborn in High Park as Bike Week pedals
toward its midpoint. The City of Toronto and community partners McBride's
Powersports and Jetfuel Racing are bringing professional racing back into the
city.

Photo opportunity:
9 a.m. - Councillor Bill Saundercook to start race.
1 p.m. - Councillor and Toronto Cycling Committee Chair Adam Giambrone presides
over the awards ceremony.

Date: Sunday, May 30
Time: 9 a.m.
Location: Children's Garden, High Park

Professionals from across the province will descend on Toronto to race around a
challenging course through High Park. The event will also feature a bicycle
dealer expo where the public can see the latest bicycle gear. Toronto Police
Service Bike Patrol Officers will also be on-site to promote the Bicycle
Registry Program.

Through its involvement in this event, the City of Toronto continues to support
the Toronto Bike Plan which establishes a vision for cycling in Toronto,
shifting gears towards a more bicycle-friendly city. The plan outlines
recommendations regarding safety, education, promotion and infrastructure,
including a comprehensive bikeway network.
