Media Advisory - Danish architect and urban design visionary to speak in Toronto

Place: The Design Exchange, 234 Bay St.

Jan Gehl will speak to members of Toronto's urban planning and design community as well as members of the public about his work and research in the area of public space design - from the revitalization of some of the world's most important urban streets to waterfront redevelopment. Gehl will discuss his criteria for creating good public spaces, using lessons from his recent work in places such as New York, San Francisco and Melbourne.

Toronto is Canada's largest city and sixth largest government, and home to a diverse population of about 2.6 million people. It is the economic engine of Canada and one of the greenest and most creative cities in North America. Toronto has won numerous awards for quality, innovation and efficiency in delivering public services. 2009 marks the 175th anniversary of Toronto's incorporation as a city. Toronto's government is dedicated to prosperity, opportunity and liveability for all its residents.
