Snow clearing for seniors and people with disabilities in Toronto

If you are a senior or disabled resident of Toronto, the City will clear snow from the sidewalk in front of your home in those areas where the service is not provided by machine.

The City provides sidewalk snow clearing in most of Toronto, however, there are a few areas where equipment is unable to clear sidewalks due to insufficient sidewalk width for the plows, the lack of boulevard space for snow storage, and on-street parking. Most of these areas are in the older, central parts of the city.

A map showing the areas where the city provides sidewalk snow clearing can be seen on the website at
http://www.toronto.ca/transportation/snow/sidewalks.htm

For seniors and people with disabilities living in areas where the City does not clear sidewalks, contact the City of Toronto at 311. Please note that the service applies to the sidewalk in front of homes only and does not include driveways or walkways leading from the street to homes.

Toronto is Canada's largest city and sixth largest government, and home to a diverse population of about 2.6 million people. It is the economic engine of Canada and one of the greenest and most creative cities in North America. Toronto has won numerous awards for quality, innovation and efficiency in delivering public services. 2009 marks the 175th anniversary of Toronto's incorporation as a city. Toronto's government is dedicated to prosperity, opportunity and liveability for all its residents.
