Two weekend events will affect roads in Toronto
  
There are two special events this weekend in Toronto that residents and visitors are encouraged to come out and enjoy. Businesses in the affected areas are open to pedestrian traffic, but some roads will be closed to motorists.

The public is encouraged to take public transit as a more affordable and faster means of getting to local destinations.

Toronto Chinatown Festival
Saturday to Sunday closure:
The southbound lanes of Spadina Avenue, from College Street to Sullivan Street, will be closed from Saturday, August 22 at 6 a.m. to Sunday, August 23 at 11 p.m. to accommodate the event. Two alternative southbound routes during the closure are Bathurst Street and University Avenue.

Festival of South Asia
Saturday to Monday closure:
Gerrard Street, from Glenside Avenue to Coxwell Avenue, will be closed from Saturday, August 22 at 9 a.m. until Monday, August 24 at 3 a.m.
