Media Advisory: City hosts slide-a-thon to raise awareness of drowning prevention
  
City of Toronto lifeguards will participate in a 12-hour slide-a-thon in support of the Lifesaving Society’s Water Smart initiative that aims to encourage individuals to exercise safe and responsible behaviour in and around water to prevent water-related injuries. Members of the public are invited to attend and cheer on the lifeguards.

Date: Friday, July 25
Time: noon
Location: Northwood Community Centre and Outdoor Pool, 15 Clubhouse Crt.

Eight to 10 lifeguards will slide each hour, for a total of 150 lifeguards sliding continuously for 12 hours. A community barbecue will be held in conjunction with the event.
