Media Advisory - Toronto rings out in celebration of Québec’s 400th anniversary

Join Mayor David Miller, as Toronto participates in a nationwide event, Ring out Together, to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Québec City.

Joining with other cities across Canada, Mayor Miller will sound the 50-bell carillon at Exhibition Place 11 times at 11 a.m., the time historians estimate that Samuel de Champlain landed in Québec in 1608. To further commemorate this historic event, the bells will ring out for an additional 400 seconds to the melody of Happy Birthday, à la Johann Sebastian Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier style.

Date: Thursday, July 3
Time: 10:55 a.m. (Mayor’s remarks); 11 a.m. (bells ring out)
Location: Bandshell Bell Tower (formerly Carlsberg Carillon), Exhibition Place
