Media Advisory - Hockey Legend Doug Gilmour to lead the team at the Toronto Challenge presented by
On Sunday, June 8, hockey icon Doug Gilmour will take the Toronto Challenge presented by and run 5k to support the residents of Toronto Long-Term Care Homes and Services, and seniors in our city. Last year thousands of people of all ages and abilities ran or walked in the 5k, or 1k event and more are expected this year.

Toronto Long-Term Care Homes and Services (formerly known as Toronto Homes for the Aged) has been making a special effort to encourage youth and families to participate in the race, and will award prizes in all age categories. The first overall male and first overall female runner in the 5k run will receive a weekend hotel and spa getaway at the NuPAD Suites on Yonge, and all participants will receive a finish-line ribbon and the opportunity to enjoy a free, post-race barbecue in Metro Square.

Now in its 17th year, the Toronto Challenge presented by is Toronto Long-Term Care Homes and Services’ premier fundraising event and a highlight in the 2008 Ontario Timex Road Race Series.

Date: Sunday, June 8
Times: 9 a.m. (aerobics warm-up); 9:30 a.m. (race starts); 10:30 a.m. (award presentations)
Start location: Metro Hall, 55 John St., corner of King and John Sts.
