Media Advisory - Nelly Furtado headlines Earth Hour celebration in Toronto

The following media advisory is being distributed on behalf of WWF-Canada.

Date: Saturday, March 29
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Media registration will open at 6 p.m.
Place: City Hall, Nathan Phillips Square

On March 29 at 8 p.m., Toronto will join cities around the world and turn off their lights for Earth Hour to raise awareness about climate change. Hundreds of Toronto businesses are participating to help ensure our skyline goes dark, including many of Toronto’s iconic buildings, like the CN Tower, as well as most of the city’s skyscrapers. To celebrate this global call to action, people are invited to come to a concert at Nathan Phillips Square during Earth Hour.

Canada’s first Earth Hour Ambassador, Nelly Furtado, will also play an acoustic concert - including her hit and the night’s theme song - “Turn off the light.” The entertainment will begin 6:45 p.m. and will include an array of musical performances and images from Earth Hour celebrations around the world. Susan Hay, co-anchor of Global’s Weekend News, will host the event.
