Media Advisory: Bowling Down the Power Walls

The following is being distributed on behalf of T-DOT.

T-DOT (Tobacco Don’t Own Toronto) is hosting a Bowling Down the Power Walls event for children and youth on Saturday, May 31 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Newtonbrook Bowlerama, 5837 Yonge St., to celebrate World No Tobacco Day and the provincial ban on power wall displays that takes effect May 31 as part of the Smoke Free Ontario Act.

More than 10,000 vendors across the province will have to comply with the new display ban keeping tobacco products out of sight, and out of mind of children and youth across the province, so that young people are less tempted to start and people trying to quit are not tempted to slip.

T-DOT is a group of 30 youth dedicated to educating their peers about tobacco-related issues and exposing tobacco industry’s tactics. T-DOT consists of young adults between the ages of 14-18 from the city of Toronto, and is part of a larger youth movement across Ontario that supports the Ministry of Health's Smoke Free Ontario Strategy.
