Nominations for Municipal Election Close October 13
  
Individuals wishing to put their name forward as a candidate for the November
13, 2000 municipal election have until Friday, October 13 at 5 p.m. to file
their nomination papers.

To be eligible as a candidate in this year's election, you must:
· be 18-years-old by November 13
· be a Canadian citizen
· live in the City of Toronto, or you or your spouse have rented or own
property in Toronto at any time between September 5, 2000 and Election Day
· not be prohibited from running for municipal office by any piece of
legislation.

"To date, we have over 190 candidates for the position of mayor, councillor and
school board trustee," said City Clerk, Novina Wong. "Individuals must come to
City Hall by 5 p.m. on October 13, sign a declaration that they are eligible to
run for office, and provide a non-refundable $100 filing fee." The fee must be
in cash, certified cheque or money order. The City Clerk's office is located at
Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West, 5th floor, West Tower.

Web site, www.city.toronto.on.ca/vote2000.
