Shake the summer doldrums - take part in the Toronto Youth Games!
Parks & Recreation - Youth between the ages of 13 and 16 from across
Toronto can shake the summertime blues by getting involved in launching the
first ever Toronto Youth Games at Etobicoke Centennial Park on July 22 and 23.

Participation is open to skilled athletes, recreational athletes, and to
individuals with special needs. The games are a combination of competitive
sports and cooperative games - and they'll showcase all of the great things the
being involved in sport and recreation are all about - fun, camaraderie and
good sportsmanship.

Activities include:
  • Adventure Learning
  • Run 'n' Roll Obstacle Course
  • Wheelchair Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Swim Relay
  • Frisbee Golf
Athletes will participate in at least four of the
above events. The friendly competitions will lead to the declaration of an
overall Gold, Silver and Bronze champion of the games.

Participants will be assigned to one of 28 squads (one squad per City ward) of
20 members. Transportation to the games will be available to the athletes, who
will also receive complimentary lunches, team t-shirts and athletic bags. The
event will be well supervised with chaperones and medical staff in attendance.
There is no charge to enter.

To obtain an entry form, or to find out more, youth are encouraged to call Ann
