Caribana visitors can take Portlands ferry to Centre Island
Parks and Recreation Division - Caribana revellers heading to the Toronto
Islands this holiday weekend can take the City's Portlands Ferry Service to
Centre Island.

Besides the City's main ferry service to the Toronto Islands, which operates
out of the Mainland Ferry Docks at the foot of Yonge Street at Queen's Quay,
the City is offering an additional ferry service from the Portlands area at the
east end of Toronto Harbour to Centre Island.

The Portlands ferry service runs from the Polson Quay Ferry Docks (at the end
of Polson Street, west of Cherry Street) to the Centre Island Ferry Docks.
Portlands ferries will run every 45 minutes from 11:30 a.m. until 6:15 p.m.
this Saturday, Sunday and Monday (August 5-7).

Tickets for the Portlands ferry can be purchased at The Dock Stop (main patio)
at The Docks waterfront entertainment complex, 11 Polson Street. Parking is
available for $5. Regular ferry rates apply: $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and
students 14-19, $2 for children 2-13, and free for infants under 2 years of age.

The Portlands ferry service pilot project will conclude after this weekend's
Caribana festivities.

For more information on Caribana 2000's Arts and Cultural Festival, which runs
from 12 noon to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 6 and Monday, August 7, or other
Caribana events, please call 416-465-4884.
