City of Toronto Encourages Residents to Use Touch-Tone Telephone Registration for Recreation Programs

Parks and Recreation - Registration for City of Toronto Fall and Winter
recreation programs begins this Saturday, September 9, in the West District
(former cities of Etobicoke and York). Toronto residents are reminded that
touch-tone telephone registration is the fastest and most convenient way to
register for programs.

"There are 192 lines operating at the same time for automated touch-tone
registration," said Claire Tucker-Reid, General Manager, Parks and Recreation.
"Residents can register from the comfort of their home, rather than bracing the
early morning hours to line up in community centres."

Residents can register by touch-tone by calling 416-338-0000. In addition,
residents can also choose to register through an operator, register in-person
at select locations, or drop-off, mail or fax in their registration forms.

Tucker-Reid anticipates a smooth registration process in the next two weeks.
"Enhancements to the computer programming have vastly improved the speed of the
registration system. Our summer registration in June was exceptional. We expect
Fall/Winter registration to be just as successful," Tucker-Reid added.

Detailed information about registration dates, times and registration methods,
as well as information on the thousands of arts, sports, clubs, leadership and
other programs offered at the City's many recreation facilities can be found in
Toronto FUN, the semi-annual Parks and Recreation Guide.

The Guide was delivered to all households in the City in mid-August. Copies are
available for pick-up at community centres, civic centres and libraries.
Toronto FUN is also available at the city's website at www.city.toronto.on.ca/parks.
