Toronto Welcomes Pole to Pole 2000 Team
  
Members of the media are invited to join a reception in welcoming Pole to Pole
2000, an international group of young people on a nine-month expedition from
the North Pole to the South Pole to raise awareness of environmental and
humanitarian issues.

Date: Monday, June 26, 2000

Time: 10 to 11 am

Place: The Banking Hall
205 Yonge Street

The Pole to Pole 2000 team will be welcomed by Councillor Chris Korwin
Kuczynski and presented with gifts from the City. The youths will also be asked
to become ambassadors for Toronto and spread our message on sustainable city
development.

Martyn Williams, Pole to Pole 2000 founder and the first person in the world to
lead successful expeditions to the North Pole, South Pole and Mount Everest,
will speak briefly on the project.

NOTE: You may also wish to attend the Pole to Pole 2000 Town Hall Meeting for
a presentation of the team's stories and images, hosted by Festive Earth
Society, Monday, June 26 from 7:30 - 9:30 pm, at the Metro Central YMCA
Auditorium, 20 Grosvenor Street, Toronto.
