Media Advisory: Toronto City Council Presents Thanks to Economic Development Strategy Steering Committee Members
  
In a special presentation at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2000, in City Hall's
Council Chambers, Mayor Mel Lastman and members of Toronto City Council will
thank four private citizens for their work as members of the Steering Committee
for the Toronto Economic Development Strategy. Honourees include:

· Ted Mallett, Canadian Federation of Independent Business
· Bruce McKelvey, Toronto Board of Trade
· Trish Stovell, Metro Labour Education Centre
· Larry Tanenbaum, Kilmer Van Nostrand Co. Ltd.

The Toronto Economic Development Strategy report lays out an approach for
developing economic growth to create high quality jobs, generate wealth and
investment, and help ensure the City's long-term fiscal health. City Council
will consider the Strategy during this week's Council meeting.
