Deadline for "Neighbourlies Awards" is August 11, 2000. Who wants to be a thousandaire?

The deadline for submitting applications for Toronto's Ninth annual
Neighbourlies Awards is fast approaching. All applications must be received by
Friday, August 11, 2000 to be eligible for one of the awards. Applications will
not be accepted after this date.

The Neighbourlies Awards recognize community projects that help make Toronto a
better place to live, work and play. Established in 1992, the Neighbourlies
Awards have acknowledged the innovative work of over 50 groups covering a wide
range of initiatives. The awards consist of a commemorative certificate and a
cheque for up to $2,000.

This year's Neighbourlies Awards presentation ceremony, Festival of Community -
A Citizen Participation Fair, will feature an interactive display of this and
past years' Awards winners as well as street theatre and music. Everyone is
welcome to join us for the ceremony, to be held in the Rotunda of Toronto City
Hall, on September 14, 2000 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Neighbourlies Awards application forms are available from all Access Toronto
public information counters at City Hall and each Civic Centre; City
Councillors' Offices; the Healthy City Office (8th Floor, West Tower, City Hall
until Wednesday, August 9 or 6th Floor, Metro Hall as of Thursday, August 10);
