New book profiles a century through seniors' eyes

On Wednesday, June 7, Councillor Anne Johnston (North Toronto), Toronto's
Seniors' Advocate, will present copies of the new publication "Then and Now: A
Century of Memories" to Mayor Mel Lastman and members of Toronto Council.

This 160-page book chronicles the life stories of 40 seniors who are living or
volunteering at Toronto's Homes for the Aged. Each story offers a rare glimpse
of what life was like in earlier times, and each story offers a unique personal
insight into Canadian history.

Also attending the ceremony will be the book subjects and family members and
the team that created the book.

Date: Wednesday, June 7, 2000

Time: 2:00 p.m.

Location: Council Chambers, Toronto City Hall
100 Queen Street West
